Shouq Al Mana is a contemporary Qatari artist who holds a bachelor’s degree in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. Recurring themes in her work include culture, unity and identity.
She received international acclaim for her recent sculpture “Egal,” in which she utilized cultural symbolism to pay homage to Qatari heritage and traditions that have been passed down through generations. Moreover, the work is an emblem of the spirit of collective resistance.
Her current practice spans painting, sculpture and installation art. Her interpretation of history through symbolism is imbued with a synthesis of the past and present.
