Krantinaari is a rapper, visual designer and system designer who is actively bridging cultures and amplifying the underrepresented voices of women. By blending folk traditions with hip-hop, she crafts a sound that connects communities while preserving cultural heritage.
Krantinaari builds collaborative ecosystems, fostering inclusivity, and shapes the future of music. She mentors artists, creating spaces for women in music and ensuring folk traditions thrive through modern innovation. Whether through hip-hop, folk collaborations, or global exchanges, she connects people, preserving cultures and driving lasting change.
Krantinaari leads Sound of Women, an initiative that increases the representation of women in music while archiving folk songs and dying languages. She travels across India with a mobile recording studio, collaborating with women from remote regions to ensure they retain rights to their music and benefit financially.
She also co-founded Wild Wild Women, India’s first all-female hip-hop collective. The collective performs at major festivals, securing spaces in a male-dominated industry and redefining the hip-hop landscape by bringing together rappers, breakdancers, graffiti artists and skateboarders.
She has collaborated with Bikram Ghosh, Mohini Dey, Sona Mohapatra and Vivek Rajagopalan, among others.
She creates multiple music sets, including a drum-and-bass club set for mainstream visibility and a hip-hop set for social impact and grassroots events, and is aiming to build an artist roster through workshops, supporting folk artists in recording, retaining rights, and earning royalties. She also wants to develop a songbook website to archive and license recordings, ensuring direct revenue for folk artists, and would like to establish a music and design school to train artists to solve community issues through system design and by fostering women’s leadership in the creative field.
Krantinaari has represented India at global festivals including Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, WOMEX 24 in Manchester and the Jenseits von Nelken und Pralinen Festival in Germany. She has also performed at Cité des Arts in Réunion and is part of the OneBeat musical exchange initiative
