Jiyoon Lee

Founder and C.E.O., SUUM Project

Jiyoon Lee is a leading contemporary art curator, cultural strategist and professor with over 25 years of experience in contemporary art and global arts management.

She began her career at the British Museum in 1998, where she contributed to the Korean Foundation Gallery. She subsequently founded SUUM Project in London to foster enhanced dialogue between the European and Asian art worlds.

Since completing her Ph.D. in art history at the University of London’s Courtauld Institute of Art, she has led major international exhibitions and biennales, including for the 2012 London Olympics Media Commission.

Ms. Lee is a former director of the MMCA in Seoul. She played a key role in establishing the landmark collaboration between the Young Architects Program at MoMA PS1 and Hyundai Motor’s series advancing Korea’s presence in global contemporary art.

As a founder of the LG OLED ART platform, she has curated acclaimed media art projects, including “LUX: New Wave of Contemporary Art” in London and Seoul. In 2025, she was invited by Thomas Heatherwick to work as project director of the 5th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.
