Head of Global Initiatives, Hartwig Art Foundation and Curator, Bukhara Biennial 2025
Diana Campbell is the curator of the inaugural Bukhara Biennial taking place from September 5 through November 20, 2025, themed “Recipes for Broken Hearts.”
A Los Angeles-born curator and writer, she is also the founding artistic director of the Samdani Art Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and served as chief curator of the 2014 until 2023, a role she will assume again for the upcoming event in 2026.
She currently serves as head of global initiatives at the Hartwig Art Foundation in Amsterdam and is a member of the facilitation group AFIELD. She has curated interdisciplinary projects with almost 2,000 creatives from over 70 countries, including major names like Antony Gormley, Otobong Nkanga and Sumayya Vally.
Ms. Campbell has previously worked with Frieze Projects (London) and the 2023 Desert X exhibition. She is known for bridging art, craft, design and architecture, and for launching initiatives like MAHASSA (Modern Art Histories in and Across Africa, South and Southeast Asia), the EDI Global Forum network and the DAS Mediators Program.
Of CHamoru heritage, her writing has been published by Phaidon, MoMA, Frieze and Rizzoli. She featured on ArtReview’s prestigious Power 100 list between 2019 and 2023.
